112 - Elvin – Silent Seasons: When God's Quiet Presence Speaks Volumes

Elvin’s email was a voice recording about his continued struggle to find contentment in the Lord and God’s help, regarding his job and finances, inside what had largely been a prosperity type gospel and mindset in his faith. Elvin and I had traded dozens of communications at the time of this recording and my response.

Step 2: Key Themes
1. The importance of faith and trust in God, especially during difficult times.
2. The struggle to maintain faith and the need for perseverance.
3. The value of silence and recognizing God’s presence in quiet seasons.
4. The importance of putting faith into action and living a life of obedience.
5. The concept of spiritual growth and maturity in Christ.

Silent Seasons: When God's Quiet Presence Speaks Volumes

The journey of faith is not always marked by constant communication or readily available answers. There are seasons of silence, times when God's presence feels distant, and His voice seems quiet. But these silent seasons are not a sign of His absence. Often, they are opportunities for deeper growth, for the cultivation of a faith that can move mountains.

Elvin is not alone, the struggle to maintain faith is a common experience for all of us. We face anxieties, fears, and doubts that whisper lies, tempting us to give up, to question God's goodness and His plan for our lives. But even in these moments of weakness, God's grace sustains us. He provides the strength to persevere, to cling to the hope we do not yet see. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1).

Putting faith into action is essential. It's not enough to simply hear the Word; we must retain it, persevere in it, and live it out in our daily lives. This requires discipline, a commitment to following the teachings of Christ, even when it's difficult. "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says" (James 1:22).

Just as a bodybuilder must continually exercise to maintain their physique, so too must we continually exercise our faith. This means trusting God in every circumstance, believing that He is working for our good, even when we don't understand His ways. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

If your faith feels small, like a mustard seed, remember that God can grow it into something powerful. He can use your struggles, your anxieties, your very weaknesses, to develop a faith that pleases Him, a faith that can move mountains. "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20), but let us remember that God’s timing for moving those mountains is rarely when we hope. Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and watch as He strengthens your faith and transforms your life, exactly has He has done for Elvin.
