126 – Elvin – End Times Reflections: Navigating the Decline of True Christianity
“This was a voice recording exchange between myself and Elvin, where I shared a few general thoughts with him about the end times and the increasing troubles upon our world.”
Holding On: When the World Crumbles
The world seems to spin faster and faster towards chaos. News cycles bombard us with misinformation, division, violence, and a blatant disregard for God's truth. It's increasingly easy to see how God might be speaking to us the same words He spoke to Baruch while they were surrounded by the disaster God was bringing on Judah. We might even echo his words, "Should you then seek great things for yourself? Seek them not. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.” (Jeremiah 45:5).
We live in a time of shaking. The author of Hebrews reminds us, "The removing of what can be shaken…so that what cannot be shaken may remain.” (Hebrews 12:27). What are these unshakeable things? They are the things of the Spirit, the treasures we store in heaven. Our faith, our hope, our good deeds, our love for God and one another – these are the anchors that hold us steady when the storms rage.
As the world around us crumbles, we must cling to these eternal truths. Jesus, in his message to the churches in Revelation, encourages us to "Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown" (Revelation 3:11). This is not a time for complacency, but for vigilance. We must maintain our faith, pray for our families, and encourage one another.
The darkness may deepen, as Jesus warned, "Night is coming, when no one can work" (John 9:4). But even in the darkest night, the light of Christ shines. Let us not be caught off guard, preoccupied with men’s interpretations of the times or of the coming doom. Instead, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and hold on with unwavering hope to the promise of his return, and His ability to make us stand firm until He does. He will come again, and when he does, he will make all things new.
